About the Taiwan Open of Surfing
The Taiwan Open of Surfing is the largest, most prestigious, and also most important event for surfing in Taiwan. It takes place in the southern part of Taiwan. At Jincun Harbor in Taitung, to be exact. It is one of the most famous surf spots in Taiwan and is well known for its high-performance waves and crystal clear waters in front of beautiful mountainous scenery. The competition was held from November 24 – 28.
Covid-19 saw the cancellation of many international sporting events worldwide. Because of that, this year’s Taiwan Open of Surfing only featured domestic competitions across several divisions and the main event, the Taitung Challenge. The Taitung Challenge is a specialty event of the World Surf League with 24 of the best talents from Taiwan.
For the past 4 years, the Open has been the last destination for the World Surf League’s Longboard World Championships. Unnecessary to say that only the best of the best can join. To be part of this competition means putting Taiwan on the map of surfing.
Yageo Surf
Yageo Surf is where the most talented surfers of Taiwan get together. Their mission is to enable young talented athletes to chase their dreams and compete professionally!
The team provides resources to young talents and helps them participate in training and education. Thereby, they are also strengthening the surf community in Taiwan. Recently the team started focusing on taking on more younger athletes and growing that section of the team. The youngest member is only 11 years old and already competing!
We at Mitcorp support this mission and are a proud sponsor of Yageo Surf! You can also read more about it here.
Congratulations!
We are proud and happy to announce that Yageo Surf has performed extremely well at the Taiwan Open of Surfing. The team ended up second place in most divisions, despite facing difficult weather conditions, fierce competition, and waves of up to 3m height! You can check all the results here.
The outcome of this highly competitive event shows that hard training and dedication pay off! We are excited to see how Yageo Surf will fare once the borders are open again for international competition!
